CHURCH STAFF
Gordon Ellis has been our Senior Minister since November of 2007, when he came to us from The First Congregational Church of Southington, Connecticut, where he served as Senior Minister for over 17 years. Prior to Southington, Gordon served for 11 years as the Senior minister at the Seekonk Congregational Church in Seekonk, MA, after serving for 3 years as Associate Minister at The First Congregational Church of Wallingford, Connecticut. Gordon graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Springfield College in 1973, majoring in 1. Religion/Philosophy and 2. Psychology. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Yale University Divinity School in 1976 & was ordained in the Franklin Association of the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ. Hartford Seminary awarded Gordon a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1989, shortly before the publication of his first book, New Beginnings: Preparing Families for Remarriage in the Church (New York: The Pilgrim Press, 1991). Gordon has also published several sermons & journal/magazine articles. Gordon has also had training in Pastoral Counseling & has worked at 3 New Haven, CT counseling sites: The Pastoral Counseling Center at St. Raphael's Hospital, The Connecticut Mental Health Center, & the Psychiatric Department at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Gordon & his wife, Diane, were married in 1973 & have 2 grown children, Ryan & Lyndsey. The entire family works hard in the area of mission/outreach & social action. His activities include leading numerous international mission trips & organizing our church as a partner church in the mission foundation, Every Dollar Feeds Kids. View video clips of Rev.
